GAME FIVE OF BEST OF SEVEN CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

Molson Vito’s Bruins 4   Auto Barn Wheelers 3

The Molson Vito’s Bruins had an explosive first period, scoring four goals, and then held on for the ride, winning 4-3 over the Auto Barn Wheelers, and are now within one win of repeating as East West Suburban Hockey League Champions.

Trevor Scott put the Bruins on the board 1:45 into the game, and then put the Wheelers on edge, setting up the next goal, six seconds later by Kamil Forgie.

The game was 3-0 before the five minute mark, with Forgie setting up John Childs

Then, the Wheelers got into some penalty trouble, taking back to back minors, giving the Bruins a minute and a half with a two man advantage – cue the 4-0 lead, with Craig MacKenzie scoring the power play goal.

The Wheelers would kill off the last half of that two man advantage, and score their own power play goal in the last minute of play in the first, Nick Palmer notching that one.

A pair of Wheeler goals in the second would make things interesting the rest of the way, but the third period went scoreless, giving the Bruins a 3-2 lead in the best of seven final.

Game 6 is set for Thursday, March 31st, 830pm at the Charles Gorman Arena

GAME FOUR OF BEST OF SEVEN CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

Molson Vito’s Bruins 7   Auto Barn Wheelers 3

The Molson Vito’s Bruins scored early, and often, cruising to a 7-3 shellacking of the Auto Barn Wheelers, evening the best of seven league championship series at two games a piece.

Greg Connolly opened the scoring with a blistering shot, high blocker side 1:27 into the game and the Bruins would throw in three more in the first, carrying a 4-1 lead into the second.

Aside from Connolly’s goal, Paul Holder had a pair for the Bruins; Trevor Scott, Craig MacKenzie, Trevor Shannon and Cal Hatfield one each.

Rob Vincent, Nick Palmer and Jarred Fitzgerald replied for the Wheelers.

Game 5 in the series is set for Tuesday, Mar 29th, 8:30pm at the Stu Hurley Arena.

GAME THREE OF BEST OF SEVEN CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

Auto Barn Wheelers 6    Molson Vito’s Bruins 3

Tim Vincent fired a hat trick and assisted on two more for a five point night, powering the Auto Barn Wheelers to a 6-3 win over the Molson Vito’s Bruins, the Wheelers taking a 2-1 lead in the best of seven league championship series in the process.

Vincent opened the scoring 5:57 into the game and Nick Palmer would give the Wheelers a 2-0 lead to take into the second, his goal the only one Vincent didn’t have a hand in.

The Wheelers would again take the heavy side of the penalty ledger, and it would cost them … the Bruins connected on two of three power play opportunities handed to them in the second, climbing back within one goal in both instances.

However, Vincent would complete his hat trick in the second, and would set up Steve Mason, and Rob Vincent, the latter with 8 seconds left in the period, giving them a 6-3 lead to carry into the third.

The Wheelers killed off two penalties in the third, which was scoreless.

The Bruins goals came from Paul Holder, Greg Connolly and Cal Hatfield.

Game 4 is set for Sunday, 730pm at the LBR.

GAME TWO OF  BEST OF

SEVEN CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

Auto Barn Wheelers 4   Molson Vito’s Bruins 3

The Auto Barn Wheelers built themselves a four goal cushion in the second game of the best of seven East West Suburban Hockey League final, and they would need it, allowing the Molson Vito’s Bruins back into the game, but they held on for a 4-3 win to even the series at a game a piece.

The Wheelers ran into serious penalty trouble in game one, and it cost them.

The tables turned, somewhat in game two as they still gave up five power plays, but killed them all, and cashed in on 2 of 3 power plays handed to them by the Bruins.

Jarred Fitzgerald had a hat trick to lead the way for the Wheelers, with a single from Tim Vincent.

The Wheelers were headed toward the third with a 4-0 strangle hold, but that’s when the Bruins showed signs of life.

Daryl MacKenzie scored with 8.1 seconds left on the clock in the second, then, scored in the first minute of play of the third to make it a two goal game.

By the five minute mark of the third, Cal Hatfield scored for the Bruins to make it an interesting game down the stretch, but it would the final goal of the game.

Game 3 in the series is set for Thursday, 8:30pm at the Charles Gorman Arena

Molson Vito’s BruinsAuto Barn Wheelers 1

The Molson Vito’s Bruins capitalized on a constant parade of Auto Barn penalties, taking the opening game of the best of seven league championship series by a score of 4-1 over the Wheelers.

The Bruins scored all four goals on special teams, the first, early in the second period from Craig MacKenzie to open the scoring.

Jarred Fitzgerald gave the Wheelers their lone goal 4:33 into the second, and the 1-1 tie would carry into the third.

By then, the penalties would start catching up to the Wheelers. They would get burned on both ends of a two man advantage, Daryl MacKenzie making it a 2-1 game 1:37 into the third, Ben Scott on the back end of the two man advantage, with just two seconds left in the penalty.
